Cleaning and maintenance of benches

Regular cleaning and maintenance of the benches ensures that your sauna will stay in good condition for as long as possible.

After having a sauna

Keep the stove on after having a sauna for up to half an hour until the beams have dried. Continual long-term exposure to moisture darkens the surface of the wood.

Cleaning the sauna and the benches

The sauna and MUOTO benches should be cleaned regularly in accordance with normal hygiene standards. The movable modules of the MUOTO benches and the beams that can be lifted onto the wall make cleaning the sauna easier.

Thorough washing of benches

It’s good to wash the beams thoroughly on both sides a few times a year, depending on usage.  When washing, it’s worth using a cleaning solution meant for wooden surfaces and a soft brush or sponge.

After washing, the beams are left to dry in the heat of the stove for around half an hour or until they are dry. A suitable amount of time is determined by the heat of the stove and the size of the sauna.

Protecting the beams with paraffin oil

It’s worth protecting the MUOTO benches with paraffin oil 1-3 times a year, depending on usage.

  1. Heat up the sauna and oil.
  2. Spread the paraffin oil with a brush on both sides of the beams.
  3. Let the oil soak in for a few hours.
  4. Wipe off the excess oil with a fluff-free towel or cloth.
